Group supervision

For CAPS members (D, R, J)

The third space of the work

In Jungian practice, supervision is foundational, not optional. Analysis is a dialectical process between two psyches — the analyst is inevitably affected, and at times destabilised, by contact with the patient's unconscious. Supervision is the third space where what has been stirred, projected, or constellated can be examined.

Group supervision adds what individual supervision cannot: different members resonate with different aspects of a case — one picks up the mother complex, another the unspoken aggression, another a somatic countertransference — and the group itself becomes a container against the isolation of analytic practice.

My experience with CAPS has been deeply enriching, both professionally and personally. It has given me the opportunity to deepen my understanding of analytical psychology, exchange ideas and learn alongside like-minded people who share a genuine interest in Jungian thought. I particularly value the openness, depth and sense of community that CAPS fosters.

It is rare to find a place to explore Jungian psychology in Singapore. CAPS and its seminars allowed me to deepen my understanding into the unconscious material and bringing it into consciousness to serve everyday life. There is deeper understanding of the psyche when delving into the obscured symbolic meaning layered behind archetypes in dreams, fairy tales, myths and images. It is akin to learning a different language through which the psyche expresses itself.
Evon Lim
